Lovely piece as always Gillian. I wonder what happened to Caroline? I sometimes think back to kids I went to school with - the ones, you realise much later on, were having it tough.

Thank you Sharon. It’s so nice to think of you, on the other side of the world, knowing about Caroline.

I think about her a lot. She was so bright and able, genuinely one of the smartest human beings I’ve ever known. But she was troubled too. I hope she’s had (& is having) a happy life.

I think this has been my favourite yet - such tender writing about those children. You must have been a very lovely teacher.

What a kind thing to say, thank you Jane. They were great kids. It's very nice to remember them. Especially Caroline - whose name wasn't Caroline!

Poor kids, just 7, and already with a heavy baggage! You wrote about them with such tenderness, Gillian. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thanks Gillian - This peice makes me feel I should carry on writing and that my introspective doubts about whether my work is interesting is Ok because, if anything, it's good way to improve my spelling.
